Comparing online channels to traditional channels

If you’re in online marketing, you probably get a lot of questions about the different channels to use. When catering to a person that isn’t that internet savvy, it is helpful to compare online to offline channels. This way, you can dispense with a lot of questions. I thought it might be handy to create an overview.

Ad words => advertising in the yellow pages

You are looking for something and your search engine gives you sponsored links that cater to your needs. When looking through the yellow pages, you will also find ads of the category you are browsing through that provide a solution to your problem.

Banners => magazine ads

CNN and Facebook strike deal

Facebook, Inc.

During the inauguration of Barack Obama, users of the social network Facebook will be able to update their status directly on cnn.com. They will not have to switch to their facebook accounts but are able to do it directly from the newssite.  The only catch is that in their status reports, “via CNN.com Live” will be seen.

Have you been naughty?

Have you been naughty?

Since the holidays are coming the Christmas and year’s ends list are coming with this. So, here’s one of mine. There will be coming some more in the next few days, all concerning new media markething of course.

I was thinking of calling this post “markething hypes” but marketeers have been pushing these things so hard in the last year, that these have become trends.
